Students will learn to be confident in their abilities to express their opinions and views and understand the depth of their beliefs and positions on issues. Here is the National High School Ethics Bowl website, where the format, goals, and rules are explained in detail:https://nhseb.org/how

Chad Van Schoelandt, Director of the Center for Ethics and Chair of the Tulane Department of Philosophy, and Shoshana Primak, Philosophy PhD student and Ethics Bowl Graduate Research Assistant are offering this unique opportunity in conjunction with Maria Cordero, Bruin Theatre Alum & B.A. Candidate of International Relations & Philosophy.

Community Service Hours

We learn a lot about ourselves and others when we give. How do you get started? Ask about volunteer opportunities at school, the clubs you belong to, the Red Cross, United Way offices, and hospitals, or plan your service project with an adult sponsor. â€‹â€‹

School Summer Cleanup: Students arrived on campus and were supplied gloves and masks. Students helped clean out old classroom materials and throw out papers and trash. Students helped to clean out two classrooms to make room for new teachers. Students also helped clean the AC Unit grates that had dust build-up. Students reorganized classroom furniture and asked custodial staff if any trash cans were to be returned for the start of the school year.

Student Leader Slow Start: Mr. Mack asked teachers to nominate students to assist with the Slow Start days. Student volunteers helped guide underclassmen to different buildings, assisted at each station of Chromebooks and IDs, and handed out school sweatshirts to freshmen class.

Open House: Students stayed after school to help set up club tables and displays and assisted parents as they arrived. Bilingual students translated for parents and teachers.
